Sleepy Hollow Man Charged with DWI, Resisting Arrest in Port Chester

Police: Highly intoxicated driver punched, struggled with Port Chester police officer.

A Sleepy Hollow man found passed out behind the wheel of a car that had been involved with an accident punched and struggled with a Port Chester police officer as the cop tried to secure the vehicle that was still in gear, according to Port Chester Police.

Hector Hernandez, 26, of 32 Cedar St., Sleepy Hollow, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, unlicensed driving and resisting arreste after a 12:07 a.m. accident Thursday along Westchester Avenue in Port Chester, police said.

He was arrested after a Port Chester officer found a car driven by Hernandez had struck another car, and Hernandez was passed out as the car was still in reverse. Police said that as the village officer reached into the car to put it in park, Hernandez began punching the officer.

Hernandez, police said, was pulled out of the car and put on the ground, but continued to struggle with the police officer. After he was subdued, police said Hernandez did not even know where he was and appeared highly intoxicated.

Police said no one was injured in the car accident and the village police officer was not injured in the incident.
