Davis, of440 E. Stanford Blvd. in Mt. Vernon, was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Police say Davis is a suspect in the case.

Officers recovered two handguns in opposite corners of the same yard where Davis was hiding.

Detectives believe Thursday night's gunfire is related to an incident on Midland Avenue dating back to Aug. 14.

In that incident, officers responded to the sidewalk in front of Michael's, where a large group was gathered and open bottles of vodka, rum and beer where scattered on the sidewalk.

When officers arrived at 2:19 a.m., they found an unconscious man bleeding from a cut above his right eye. One witness said the man had been punched in the face, but a large group of intoxicated witnesses were trying to push officers away from the victim, Ladeairous said.

None of the witnesses would provide details to police, and the victim in the Aug. 14 incident did not cooperate or offer a suspect description.

City of Rye assisted Port Chester police at the scene Thursday night, and the Westchester County Police Department provided K9 and aviation units.

Anyone with information on Thursday night's shooting or the August assault can call the Port Chester Police Department at 914-939-1000. All calls will be kept confidential.
