Shoplifter Caught at Marshall's; Violent Robbers on Radar

A 25-year-old Port Chester man was arrested for petit larceny after security cameras caught him shoplifting from Marshall’s at 20 Waterfront Place, police said.

According to police, Gari Alvarado, of 129 Smith St., tried to take $151 worth of clothes and electronics from the store. A security camera caught him taking a jacket off of a rack and waring it, and concealing items in a backpack as well as his pants, police said.

A 30-year-old Port Chester man was stabbed several times in the arms, chest and abdomen following an attack on South Main Street at about 2:28 a.m. on Nov. 29, police said.

During an attempted robbery, two men described as short, fat and possibly Colombian, confronted the victim on the sidewalk demanding money, according to police. They may have been 18 to 24 years old police said.

The two attackers approached him one from in front and one from behind, and stabbed him several times after he told them he had no money.

Police are investigating. The victim ultimately was taken to and treated at Greenwich Hospital, police said.
