Rye Man Charged with DWI after Boston Post Road Crash in Port Chester

Jeep hits fire hydrant, sign post, utility pole; driver injured.

A Rye man was charged with drunk driving after a Monday night accident in which he slammed into a fire hydrant, a sign post and a utility pole and was injured, according to Port Chester Police.

Francisco Ceron, 44, of 49 Tyler Cirlce, Rye, was taken to White Plains Hospital for treatment after the 9:43 p.m. crash as he was heading westbound on Boston Post Road. Police said the Jeep he was driving ended up smashed, with extensive front-end damage, near the Mobil station at 425 Boston Post Road.

Police said as village officers arrived, they found Ceron in the car, with the airbags deployed. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt and he complained of head pain. Port Chester firefighters and EMS were called to assist in at the accident scene, along with utility workers because of the damaged pole.

During the investigation, police said village officers could smell alcohol and Ceron was later charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and he was cited for not wearing his seat belt. He faces a hearing in Port Chester Village  Court.
