A 55-year-old Rye woman was charged with drunken driving after she was involved with a two-car accident in Port Chester, according to Port Chester Police.
Laurie Nikitin of 82 Purchase St., Rye, was arrested after a 4:30 p.m. incident on Friday witnessed by a Port Chester police officer on Boston Post Road. No one was injured in the accident. Police said the drivers were turning to go up the hill on South Regent Street.
Police said Nikitin was driving a 2002 Saab when she and another driver were involved in an accident and then pulled into a parking lot to exchange information. The village police officer who went to investigate the incident found that Nikitin appeared intoxicated, police said.
Nikitin was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated because she was twice the legal limit for alcohol in her system, according to police. Nikitin was also issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
Nikitin faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
