Port Chester police found the suspects on Aug. 21 around 7:30 p.m. on Boston Post Road when they spotted a two-door, grey Infinity that fit the description of the car Rye PD was looking for in connection to the armed robbery, Port Chester Police Lt. James Ladeairous said. Police pulled the driver over for allegeldy not wearing a seatbelt, a violation. While at the car, the officer smelled marijuana and asked the driver, Chavarria-Sanchez and two passengers, one of whom was Anchez-Sanchez, to step out of the vehicle, in which they found marijuana and a cell phone, police said. They also found marijuana on Anchez-Sanchez and the second passenger whose name we are not printing because he was not charged in connection to the robbery.

Once the men were at the Port Chester police station, a Rye victim of the knifepoint robbery arrived and identified the phone found in the car as hers, Ladeairous said. The three were transported to the Rye police station the next day where Rye police charged Anchez-Sanchez and Chavarria-Sanchez with first-degree robbery, a felony. Port Chester police had already charged the two with possession of marijuana, a violation; and criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. Chavarria-Sanchez was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance for cocaine found in his pocket.
