Port Chester Fire Department Recruiting New Volunteers

Port Chester is part of a statewide effort to sign up volunteers. Reliance Engine & Hose Company # 1 will host a drive on Saturday, April 21.

Members of the Port Chester Fire Department are reaching out to the community in hopes of convincing residents to become volunteer firefighters.

While the fire department is especially targeting high school- and college-age residents to join the fire department, firefighters say that the village's seven fire companies need volunteers of all ages to help protect Port Chester.

"We're looking for people who want to help their community," said Christopher Santucci, first lieutenant of Port Chester's Reliance Engine & Hose Company No. 1, which is hosting an open house on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Port Chester Fire Department Headquarters, 209 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.
