Port Chester Women Gets Ticket for Pit Bull Found on the Loose

Dog found on Grace Church Street was friendly, did not threaten anyone.

A Port Chester woman was cited for a violation of village ordinances requiring dogs to be leashed after a young pit bull was found loose on Grace Church Street, according to Port Chester Police.

The dog was friendly and did not bite or threaten anyone. Police said the dog was spotted by a village police officer about 8:35 a.m. on Sunday on a sidewalk along Grace Church Street.

The police officer was able to get the dog into his patrol car and he was able to locate the owner, a 43-year-old village resident, a short time later in the area of Purdy Avenue and Townsend Street.

The dog appeared to be in good health and did not have any injuries, police said.
