Port Chester Woman Accused of Shoplifting $262 Worth of Goods

Police: Shopping cart full of items rolled out of supermarket.

A 42-year-old Port Chester woman is accused of petty larceny in connection with the theft of $262 worth of goods from a supermarket, according to Port Chester police.

Employees of the Port Chester  on Midland Avenue reported to police that a woman who covered a shopping cart filled with items from the store with her jacket and left the store without paying. Police said they found Jessie Amberstone of 45 Townsend St., Port Chester, in the parking lot, where she told police she was there to do her laundry.

Police said the supermarket manager identified Amberstone as the person who left the store without paying, and she was charged with petty larceny.
