Port Chester Teen Charged with Slashing Woman Holding Child

Police: Pair had argued earlier in the day, leading up to violent clash.

A Port Chester teenager has been charged with slashing a 45-year-old woman who was holding a child after a dispute on Traverse Avenue, according to Port Chester police.

Guyneisha McGhee, 17, of 9 Weber Drive, Port Chester, is charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child after the 12:15 a.m. incident Saturday on the sixth floor of 45 Traverse Ave.

McGhee and the victim, police said, are known to each other and had a verbal dispute prior to the confrontation. Police said the victim, a resident of 45 Traverse Ave., was slahed twice by a knife. She was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of her injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Police said the victim was holding a child when she was slashed. Police were uncertain what was the focus of the dispute between the women.

Always smart to have a child up at 12:15 a.m. Always leads to positive moments.

this article is DISGUSTING in every way, you slash a woman old enough to be your mother and on top of that carrying a child????? not enough is done to dicipline or teach these people a lesson. way too many of these incidents occur more everyday and where are the parents to this minor?
Love Spell October 02, 2012 at 02:58 PM
This ashame. She was such a nice girl. The parents are to blame and nothing is being done about it. I just hope she realizes the consequences of her actions. Shes in need of great reform.

These people?

Your comments are DISGUSTING. You wanna change the town get involved. Stop complaining and whining. Start a neighbourhood watch. Donate money so they have security. But please don't get racist, it's ignorant

i just cant belive this little criminal is still walking the streets and not in jail i know the victim personally and she is probably one of the kindest people in town. her and her family did not deserve this

She's 17, almost 18 years old...in a building where many of her family members live! If not home then at least somewhere where she's comfortable being

I don't question the slashing, but I can question why a woman old enough to be this girl's parent was arguing with this girl in the first place and be just as right as you. And if you're going to say "these people" can you elaborate on that because otherwise you sound racist even if that wasn't your intention.

NoName - I believe he was referring to the baby the 45 year old woman was holding!

there for the grace of God, has nothing to do with violence.
Concerned citizen October 03, 2012 at 12:30 AM
Yes guala these people because not everyone is out there slashing people holding a child! This woman is 45 yr old grown woman and shouldn't be arguing with a 17 yr old kid
Gracie Hernandez October 03, 2012 at 01:07 AM
Babies wake up through the night... duh. This woman was in her home! How can you comment on the fact that the baby was up and not the fact she was stabbed in the comfort of her own home?
Scooby October 03, 2012 at 03:26 PM
This is a woman who is almost 17 years old. How do you know what they were arguing about? Maybe this 17yr old woman deserved to be yelled at. But what IS for sure is this 17yr old woman should NOT have slashed anyone but especially someone holding a child.
Concerned citizen October 04, 2012 at 02:53 PM
And to answer your question "no name" I am not being racist in any shape way or form, what I meant by these people is the people who continuously are commuting crimes and putting other people in danger.
NoName October 05, 2012 at 03:37 AM
Concerned Citizen: Thank you for elaborating as I asked. I can say (knowing the 17 year old personally..which I will not say how) that this wasn't "continously" and overall she's not a bad kid. Somewhere in the argument things got out of hand and this was retaliation for something percieved to happen. And as far as the child...I've heard two things: The story where she was holding the child when she got slashed is one, another is that she actually put the child down BEFORE she got slashed is the other
