Port Chester Store Hit with $1,200 in Phony Traveler's Checks

Woman bought pre-paid credit cards with bogus checks.

A Port Chester store is out $1,200 after a woman bought pre-paid credit cards with traverler's checks that turned out to be forged, according to Port Chester Police.

A woman went to the Stop and Shop supermarket, 15 Waterfront Place, at about 5:26 p.m. on Sunday and purchased $800 worth of Visa cards. The woman returned to the store a few hours later and purchased another $400 worth of Visa cards.

The store, police said, discovered on Monday that the checks were bogus. An investigation is in continuing.
