English Pointer has just given birth, ran out of nearby home.

A dog that was scared and confused just after giving birth was rescued by a Port Chester police officer who spotted the animal running loose on Boston Post Road.

Village officer Thomas Krempa spotted the 8-year-old English Pointer running in traffic at about 9 a.m. Thursday. He chased the dog and was able to capture it in the area of Pearl Street.

He was able to grab the dog and put it into the police department pick up truck he drives — Krempa is Port Chester's bicycle patrol officer. When Krempa picked up the dog, he found the dog was covered with blood.
