A man who gave cops several false names to hide his identity has been charged with illegal drug possession on Willow Street, according to .
Edward Hayward Thomas, 48, who has no set address but is known by police to live in the village, was stopped for questioning by police at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they have received complaints from residents in the area about drug-related activity and Thomas was stopped in connection with these complaints.
Police said that when village officers started questioning Thomas, he ran away from them and was stopped by officers a short distance away. Police said they found crack cocaine on Thomas and he was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Thomas was also charged with resisting arrest and giving police false names in an attempt to hide his identity. Thomas is being held in the Westchester County Jail in Vahalla pending a Port Chester Village Court hearing.
