Port Chester Police Break Up Early-Morning Street Fight, Twice

19-year-old Port Chester man accused of trying to fight with police.

A group of men were so anxious to fight each other in Port Chester early Saturday that it took two separate tries by police to break them up.

The incident led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Port Chester man who is accused of trying to fight with police.

Port Chester village officers found a large group of men fighting on Smith Street at about 2:41 a.m. Saturday. Police were able to break up the fight and no one was reported injured or arrested.

However, police said the fight moved on to Grove Street, where village officers again went to break up the disturbance. But this time, police said Edwin Rodriguez, 19, of 29 Clark Place, verbally abused police officers and then tried to punch them.

Rodriguez was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
