Port Chester Mom Stuffed $1k in Clothing, Jewelry into Baby Carriage, Store Says

The Port Chester woman is accused of stealing from Kohl's while shopping with her two young children.

A Port Chester mom is due in court Monday after she was caught stuffing more than $1,000 in merchandise into her child's baby stroller at a department store, Port Chester police said.

Security guards at Kohl's on Boston Post Road spotted Maria Carolina Pancracio, 32, strolling through the store with her three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter on Aug. 16. Pancracio allegedly stuffed clothing and jewelry into her daughter's stroller, concealing the items as she browsed the store.

When Pancracio headed toward the exit and passed the cashiers, store security stopped her and called police. In all, there was $1,120 worth of items hidden in the stroller, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Pancracio was charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny. A police officer notified Child Protective Services, and relatives picked up Pancracio's children as she was processed and booked. Pancracio is due in court on Monday.
