Port Chester Man Charged with DWI in Rockland County

Police: 40-year-old was stopped for driving erratically on Route 59 in Nanuet.

A Port Chester man is charged with drunken driving after he was stopped by police on Route 59 in Rockland County early Sunday morning.

Alejandro Almazan-Perez, 40, of Port Chester, was spotted driving a 1998 Lincoln Navigator eastbound on Route 59 at about 2 a.m. and was seen swerving in and out of his traffic lane, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Almazan-Perez was stopped by police in the vicinity of the Palisades Interstate Parkway overpass. Police said he appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests.

Almazan-Perez was taken to Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol. Almazan-Perez was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City and later released on $100 bail.

He faces a hearing in Clarkstown Town Court on Dec. 3. on a charge of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
