A Port Chester man has been charged with robbery and a second man is being sought after a mugging on Poningo Street, according to Port Chester police.
Police said the victim was attacked by two men at about 4:25 a.m. Friday in front of 107 Poningo St. His wallet and $400 cash were stolen, and the man was struck in the face in the attack.
The attackers ran off and the victim flagged down a passing village police officer a short time later. Police said the victim saw the two attackers run behind a Poningo Street building and he was able to describe the men.
Police said a few minutes later they stopped and questioned Darel Franklin, 26, of 45 Travis Ave., Port Chester, and Franklin was arrested after he was identified as one of the attackers by the victim. Police said they are seeking the second man in the attack.
As police were investigating the incident, the victim's face began to swell and he was taken to Greenwich (CT) Hospital for treatment.
Franklin was arraigned in Port Chester Village Court and ordered held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla pending a hearing on Thursday. He is accused of second-degree robbery.
