Port Chester Man Charged in $145 Theft at Department Store

Police: Sneakers put into backpack.

A Port Chester man was charged with petty larceny in connection with the theft of $145 worth of merchandise from a Port Chester department store, according to Port Chester Police.

Christian Membreno, 36, of 40 Armett St., was arrested Sunday after a 5:45 p.m. incident at the Marshalls store at 20 Waterfront Place, police said. Store staff accused him of taking three pairs of sneakers without paying for the items.

Police said Membreno is accused of taking the sneakers into a bathroom of the store, cutting off merchandise tags and then placing the shoes in a backback.
