A 20-year-old Port Chester man is charged with choking his 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend in a domestic violence incident early Thursday that began on Poningo Street, according to Port Chester police.
The victim was not injured but briefly lost consciousness when she was choked in a confrontation out on the street with her boyfriend, Edimil Moreno Reynoso, police said.
At about 1:30 a.m., police started receiving calls about a woman screaming on Poningo Street. Village officers on patrol in the area at first could not find anyone, but then a call came in about a woman who needed help on Westchester Avenue, under the railroad bridge.
Police said they found the victim and she reported that Moreno Reynoso had grabbed her on the street and then at a friend's home, trying to bring her back home. During these clashes, the victim told police, Moreno Reynoso repeatedly grabbed her by the throat.
The victim fell to the ground during one of the attacks, police said.
Moreno Reynoso is charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony, and he is being held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla pending a Port Chester Village Court hearing.
