Port Chester Fire Department Sponsors Blood Drive

Firefighters work with American Red Cross.

The Port Chester Fire Department is reaching out to the community to help keep the life-saving supply of blood flowing for area hospitals.

The PCFD has a Blood Bank set for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the South End Station, 51-53 Grace Church St.

The Blood Bank, run in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is set to run from 2 to 8:30 p.m.

The Red Cross says there is a constant need for blood donations. If you can't make it to the PCFD's Blood Bank, you can check out other locations - and make an appointment to give blood - by clicking here.

What happens with your blood donation? The Red Cross says the blood is delivered to a Red Cross blood component laboratory where it is processed into several components (e.g., red blood cells, plasma, platelets and/or cryoprecipitate). A single blood donation may help up to three different people.
