Port Chester Explorers Team Up With Firefighters for Drill

Youth program gives teens an inside look at the role of volunteer firefighters.

Members of the Port Chester Fire Department Explorer Post 700 joined in a drill with members of PCFD Ladder 31, Engine 63 and Rescue 40 this week to learn firefighting techniques.

PCFD members showed the Explorer members how to use a hoseline properly and the tools that are used at a fire scene.

The Explorer program provides youth from the community a chance to learn about the role of the volunteer firefighter and provides them training on firefighting skills and techniques. The program is experiencing a resurgance in the Port Chester Fire Department.
