A Port Chester man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a cell phone belonging to a customer at a Port Chester gas station, according to Port Chester police.
Police said a customer at the Sunoco station at 98 Hillside Ave. placed his cell phone on the sales counter of the store while shopping and soon noticed the phone was missing. The customer returned on Monday to see if anyone had found the phone, without any luck.
However, a check of the store’s video security system, police said, revealed that another man had entered the store and grabbed the victim's phone from the sales counter and left the store.
The man in the video, police said, was known to police and identified as Freddie Aleman, 47, of 522 Willett Ave., Port Chester. Police went to Aleman’s home and arrested him — also recovering the phone.
Aleman is charged with petty larceny.
