Police: Teens Tried to Rob Port Chester Man on Westchester Ave.

The four suspects include two Port Chester teens and two others from Connecticut. They were charged with felony attempted robbery.

Four teens, including two from Connecticut and two from Port Chester, were arrested on felony charges after trying to rob a Port Chester man on Sunday, police said.

The teens, ranging in age from 16 to 18 years old, surrounded the 24-year-old victim at 2:54 a.m. as the man was walking east on Westchester Avenue, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The teens blocked the man's path and demanded money; the victim told them he had no money and tried to walk away, but one of the would-be robbers struck him in the ear, Ladeairous said.

The teens fled, and the victim called police. Officers took the victim to the train station on Broad Street, where he identified the would-be robbers hanging out near the train platform.

Four teens were arrested: Steven Tucker, 16, of 10 Westend Ave. in Westport, CT; Guido Franco, 17, of 64 Diaz St. in Stamford, CT; Anthony Brooks, 16, of 261 Locust Ave. in Port Chester; and Tihad Karrout, 18, of 53 Fox Island Road in Port Chester.

All four were charged with second-degree attempted robbery, a felony. Tucker was also charged with resisting arrest for fighting with officers, Ladeairous said. Police determined a fifth boy, a 15-year-old from Greenwich, was not involved in the robbery and was not charged or arrested.

In some cases, the names of minors are withheld if they qualify for youthful offender status. Police released the names of the suspects because they are charged with a violent felony.
