Police: Shoplifting at Kohl's, Four Ticketed for Public Drinking

A Mamaroneck woman was caught stealing clothes and jewelry from a department store, while quartet from Port Chester and Mamaroneck was ticketed for drinking in a parked car.

A Mamaroneck woman was arrested for shoplifting on Sunday after security at Kohl's caught her stealing clothes and jewelry, Port Chester police said.

Francine Kozminsky, 49, walked into Kohl's on Boston Post Road a few minutes before 6:30 p.m. Store security officers watched Kosminsky via security cameras as the Mamaroneck woman conceiled several pieces of clothing, jewelry and accessories.

When Kozminsky walked past the cash registers and toward the store exit, security stopped her and called the Port Chester Police Department.

Kozminsky was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. The stolen items were valued at $186 and were recovered.

'They Weren't Going Anywhere'

Three men from Port Chester and a man from Greenwich were ticketed Sunday night for drinking in public.

The men, who range in age from 27 to 43, were sitting inside a parked car near the intersection of Parker and Poningo streets when an officer spotted them a few minutes after 4 p.m., Capt. John Telesca said.

They were each ticketed for drinking in public, a violation. Although they were drinking in a car, police used discretion and did not tack on a DWI charge for the man in the driver's seat.

"They weren't going anywhere," Telesca said.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
