Police Seize 7,000 Bootleg DVDs in Flea Market Bust
A popular DVD booth at Port Chester's Empire State Flea Market has been closed down following a police raid on Friday.
A Queens man faces a felony counterfeiting charge after Port Chester Police seized 7,206 DVDs and Blu-Ray discs from a booth at the Empire State Flea Market on Friday.
Local police were contacted by an investigator from the MPAA, or Motion Picture Association of America, a trade organization that advocates for movie industry interests. Investigators from the MPAA had visited the flea market as part of the organization's ongoing anti-piracy efforts, purchasing several DVDs from the booth, Capt. John Telesca said.
In all, police seized 6,746 DVDs and 460 Blu-Ray discs when they executed a search warrant at the Boston Post Road flea market a few minutes before 10 a.m. on Friday. Titles were sold for $5 each, according to police. The merchandise was taken into custody as evidence.

Zuqiu Yang, 40, of Kissena Boulevard in Queens, was charged with second-degree trademark counterfeiting, a felony. Yang is due back in court this week.
