Police: Robbers Assault PC Man, 61, Steal Wallet

The suspects came up behind the victim before assaulting him on S. Regent St., according to police.

A 61-year-old man took several punches to the face and had his wallet stolen by a pair of robbers Sunday night, Port Chester police said.

The victim was heading home from work at 2:22 a.m. and was walking on South Regent Street when two men approached from behind and assaulted him, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

When officers arrived, they found the Port Chester man bleeding from his nose and nursing a bruised face. The victim refused medical attention.

Patrol officers canvassed the area, but the suspects were gone. They made off with the victim's wallet, which contained personal papers and $200 in cash, Ladeairous said.
