Police: Port Chester Son and Father Arrested in DWI Incident

Traffic violation leads to two arrests.

A traffic violation on Poningo Street in Port Chester led to the arrest of a village resident on drunken driving charges and his father for resisting arrest, according to Port Chester police.

Police said a village officer stopped a car at about 1 a.m. because the driver went through a red light. When questioned, police said driver David Garibay, 30, of 22 Parker St., Port Chester, appeared intoxicated.

Garibay, according to police, argued with the village officer about taking a breath test for alcohol and was then arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Garibay's father, Donato Garibay, 54, of 29 Washington St., was a passenger in the car and got out of the vehicle as his son was being arrested.
