A Port Chester man who was spotted driving a car without license plates was charged with drunk driving after his car was seen jumping the curb and nearly hitting a pedestrian, according to Port Chester Police.
Jorge Maldonado, 27, of 53 Grove St., was arrested after an 8:35 p.m. incident on Sunday that began with a report of an accident on Bush Street. Police said a village officer spotted Maldonado driving on Poningo Street in a white car with no license plates.
As the officer followed the car, police said, Maldonado jumped a curb at Seymour Road and went onto the sidewalk. Police said Maldonado was seen getting out of the car and then getting into the back set. A pedestrian told police that he was nearly hit by the car as it went onto the sidewalk.
When a village officer questioned Maldonado, police said, the driver appeared intoxicated and empty alcohol containers were found in the car.
Maldonado was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured car, not having any license plates on the car and he was cited for driving on the sidewalk. His car was impounded by police.
Maldonado faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
