Police: Port Chester Man Brandished Knife, Frying Pan During Argument

A late-night confrontation led to an argument in a Grandview Avenue apartment, according to police.

A Port Chester man faces a burglary charge after he was accused of running ininvited into an apartment and threatening the people inside on Friday, according to the Port Chester Police Department.

The tenant of a Grandview Avenue apartment told police two female friends were walking toward the front door at 1:30 a.m. when 25-year-old Cory Peterson "came running up and forced the door open," Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Peterson pushed ahead of the two women and began arguing with the tenant and his two guests. According to police, the Port Chester man grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter "and held it above his head in a threatening manner."

It's not clear what the parties were arguing about, Ladeairous said, but the report notes Peterson was a former tenant in the apartment.

Later, he swapped the knife for a frying pan, although it's not clear why. Peterson allegedly started swinging at the other three people in the apartment, but didn't hit anyone, Ladeairous said.

The tenant told police that Peterson threw pots and pans around the kitchen before kicking out a glass pane on the back door. When one of the victims dialed police, Peterson fled the apartment.

Peterson, of High Street, was picked up on Boston Post Road a short while later, police said. He was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony.
