Police: Port Chester Man Attacked, Trapped Woman

The victim was trapped in a bedroom in her own home for more than eight hours, according to police.

A Port Chester man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly attacking his cousin's girlfriend and trapping her inside a bedroom in her own home for more than eight hours, police said.

The victim told police she'd woken up early and was cooking breakfast at 8 a.m. in her Rectory Street home when her boyfriend's cousin – who lives in the same home – came downstairs and wished her a happy birthday, then asked her if she could translate an e-mail from his own girlfriend.

The victim agreed and followed the man – 37-year-old Wuilmer Suarez – to his bedroom, where he threw her down on a bed and put a hand over her mouth. The victim struggled free and yelled for Suarez to stop, but he caught up with her again.

After a second struggle, the woman again broke free and ran to another bedroom, where she locked the door, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The victim stayed inside the bedroom for more than eight hours until her boyfriend came home. When the boyfriend saw the signs of struggle – including scratches on the victim's face – he dialed police, who arrived and found Suarez still in the Rectory Street home.
