Police: PC Man Drinking While Shopping Caught with Hypodermic Needles

A 33-year-old Port Chester man caught for allegedly stealing $79 worth of items from Pathmark was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument when police searched him for the stolen goods, Port Chester Capt. John Telesca said.

The man was seen opening and drinking two bottles of Smirnoff Ice while in the store and attempting to steal two packages of Huggies diapers, two packages of soap, a six-pack of Bud Light and a six-pack of Smirnoff, Telesca said. While police were searching him they found two hypodermic syringes inside an empty cigarette box and one needle did not have the required protective cap.

He was charged with petty larcenty, a misdemeanor, in addition to the criminal possession charge. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on July 25.
