A Port Chester woman is charged with endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation of an incident involving her 8-year-old son, according to Port Chester Police.
Police said a 39-year-old Washington Street resident was arrested at 10:19 p.m. Friday in conjunction with representatives of Westchester County Child Protective Services. Police said the investigation looked into reports that the woman had struck her son with a belt.
The mother, police said, told investigators that she hit the boy because he was involved in a fight with his younger brother.
Police said the children did not need medical attention.
The mother was released pending a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
