Police: Man Injures Harrison Officer During Traffic Stop

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Massachusetts man who tried to run from police during a traffic stop faces a felony charge after Harrison Police say he injured an officer while trying to avoid being handcuffed.

Police say Randall Kraken, 45, of 424 St., Wilmington, was stopped for a traffic violation on Nov. 19 near the intersection of Convent Ln. and Westchester Ave. After a license check revealed an active warrant out of New Hampshire, a Harrison Police officer tried to place Kroken under arrest, police say.

Before he could be handcuffed, police say Kroken pushed off of his vehicle and attempted to escape by crossing Westchester Ave.

The officer was able to grab Kroken's jacket and pull him to the shoulder, knocking Kroken to the ground, according to an arrest report. But police say Kroken placed his arms in front of his body in an effort to fight being handcuffed.

With the help of a second officer who arrived at the scene, police were able to handcuff Kroken and take him into police custody. The officer who grabbed Kroken reported an injury to two of his fingers.

Police say Kroken's active warrant was a result of not paying child support.

Kroken was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and traffic violations.

He was processed at police headquarters.
