Police: Level 3 Sex Offender Living in Port Chester

Notice issued to community.

Port Chester police have issued a notice to the community that a Level 3 sex offender is living in the village.

The notice was issued as part of the Port Chester Police Department’s policy regarding sex offenders.

"Notification is being made to protect the public from danger of recidivism posed by sex offenders and not being made to cause alarm but to provide the community with information that is available by law," according to the notice from Det. Lt. Royal Monroe.

Robert “Bruce” Furman is a Level 3 sexually violent offender, according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, having been convicted of first-degree rape in 1982 stemming from his arrest in Mount Vernon.

Furman, 55, lives at 63 E. Broadway, Port Chester.

New York State defines Level 3 as a high risk of repeat offense and a threat to public safety exists.
