Police: Intoxicated Mom Accused Of Endangering Child In Port Chester

New Rochelle woman involved in argument with another woman on Westchester Avenue.

A New Rochelle woman was charged with endangering the welfare her 2-year-old child after police intervened in a dispute she was having with another woman and was found to be highly intoxicated, according to Port Chester police.

Maria Salomon-Ayala, 29, of 11 First St., was so intoxicated that she could hardly stand and had to be helped into a police car when she was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Port Chester police Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Salomon-Ayala was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police responded to a report of two women having an argument on Westchester Avenue at Pearl Street. Ladeairous said when village officers arrived they found Salomon-Ayala, who had her child in a stroller, was highly intoxicated.

The child was not injured. Westchester County Child Protective Services was called in to assist, Ladeairous said, and the child was turned over to the father.
