Police: Homeless Man Caught with Heroin at Housing Authority

Police began to pursue the man because he was on property from which he has been banned.

While doing a routine check of the Port Chester waterfront, an officer saw a man at the Housing Authority building on Travis Avenue who is know to have been banned from that property around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 28. The officer allegedly saw him go into the building and followed him where he ran from the police and tried to through objects in their path to stop them, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Police eventually caught up to the man, reported to be a homeless 36-year-old, in an apartment. They searched him and allegedly found five packets of heroine on him. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree, a misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and criminal trespass in the third degree, all misdemeanors.
