Police: Grateful Dead Fan Arrested for DWI

A 42-year-old Syracuse resident was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after he hit another car and then hid in the bed of his pickup truck from police on Oct. 5 at 11:40 p.m., Police Lt. James Ladeairous said. The driver whose car he hit told police that he had a green arrow to make a left when the alleged drunk driver hit the front right side of the car.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man hiding in a sleeping bag in the back of the truck. When asked for his license, the man handed police a ticket stub from the Grateful Dead lyricist, Robert Hunter, concert at The Capitol Theatre that night, Ladeairous said. He then admitted he had no license. He was arrested for Aggravated DWI for being allegedly having a BAC above .18 and DWI, both misdemeanors.
