Police: Drunk Greenwich Man Drove into Stone Wall

Police say the driver was intoxicated when he crashed on Boston Post Road.

A Greenwich man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after driving into a stone wall Tuesday, Port Chester police said.

A patrol officer was idling in the parking lot of Wendy's at 330 Boston Post Road when he heard tires screeching from the parking lot across the street, which houses a plaza and several stores. At 1:42 a.m. the officer watched as a car left the parking lot, then heard a louder sound of tires screeching and before a loud crash, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The driver, 22-year-old Andres Reyes of Greenwich, was trying to make the turn from Boston Post Road to Olivia Street when he hit a stone wall at the northeast corner of the intersection. When the officer arrived, Reyes and his three passengers -- a Port Chester man, and a woman and a man from Armonk, all 18 years old -- were standing outside of the car. No one was seriously injured, and all four refused medical attention.

Reyes was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, both misdemeanors. He was also ticketed for speeding.
