Police: Couple Caught on Camera Stealing at Super Suds

Police arrested a couple after they allegedly stole a change purse from the bench outside Super Suds Laundromat on Midland Avenue on Aug. 18, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said.

A woman reported that her small change purse with car keys and money was left on the bench when she went inside to check her laundry and it was gone when she returned. The camera showed a couple walk up with a load of laundry, find the change purse, look inside, and then turn around and leave. Police found the couple who admitted they took the money and said they left the purse in a mailbox in Connecticut, hoping it would get back to the woman from whom they stole it.

The woman has still not gotten her purse back, but both the man and woman of the couple were charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.
