A Port Chester man learned a hard lesson on Friday when he left his car running outside a store and a thief drove off with it, Port Chester police said.

The 27-year-old victim pulled up to Marino Supermarket on Westchester Avenue at 5:30 p.m. and left his car unlocked with the keys in the ignition as he ran into the store to make a quick purchase. While inside, he saw a black male wearing a gray jacket and a black bandana jump into the car and drive off with it.

The stolen car is a red 2004 Nissan Altima. The victim reported the incident to Port Chester police and an investigation is continuing.
