Attempted theft, scrap metal stolen

Port Chester police reported several incidents that took place across the village:

Attempted theft

Employees of the Port Chester supermarket said a man wearing a Yankees cap and dressed in jeans attempted to steal $600 worth of merchandise from the store on July 13 at 10:05 p.m. Police said store workers stopped the man with the merchandise outside the supermarket and the man fled the area.

Scrap metal stolen

The owner of a business on Wilkins Avenue told police that several men with a white truck were spotted taking scrap metal that was being stored in a garbage bin for recycling. The value of the stolen metal was uncertain.
