Police: Armed Robbery in Craigslist iPhone Deal Gone Awry

An armed robbery, slashed tires, and a stolen car were reported by Port Chester Police on Thurs., Apr. 21.

Armed Robbery in Front of Purdy St. Projects

On the afternoon of Apr. 20, a 27-year-old male from Flushing, NY and a 42-year-old male from Quincy, MA came to Port Chester to purchase iPhones from a dealer they found on Craigslist, police said.

The men agreed to meet the dealer at 70 Purdy Ave. They told police they were approached by a black male and a white male, both of whom they described as about 5'9", of medium-build and about 20-years-old.

The men said one of the suspects told them that the iPhones they wanted to purchase were in a bag, which he handed to one of the victims. The suspects, police said, then told the men to get into their car to make the deal.

At this point, the victims told police that the white suspect pulled a gun and demanded the bag and money, amounting to about $1,700, which they intended to use for the purchase of the iPhones.

Lt. James Ladeairous said no arrests have been made.
