PC Victims Held at Gunpoint, Pistol Whipped in Home Invasion Robbery

Police say the victims were bound and one had a gun put to his head as the robbers demanded a large stash of cash they believed was in the apartment.

Police are looking for a trio of robbers who forced their way into a Grace Church Street apartment and robbed two victims at gunpoint on Sunday night.

One victim, a 46-year-old Port Chester man, was taken to Greenwich Hospital after he was pistol-whipped with a handgun. As police piece together the events, they believe the robbers may have forced their way into the wrong apartment after the victims overheard them saying they were looking for a large amount of cash.

The robbery happened a few minutes before 9 p.m., when the male victim was at home with his girlfriend, Lt. James Ladeairous said. The victim told police he heard his apartment buzzer ring and went to the front door, where a woman was waiting. The woman didn't respond when the victim asked her who she was visiting, but the victim allowed her into the building anyway, Ladeairous said.

As the man was heading back to his door, he was struck from behind and pushed into the apartment by two male accomplices who had followed the woman into the building. One of the male suspects pistol-whipped the victim, then ordered him and his girlfriend to the floor. One of the suspects, a black man with a heavy Jamaican accent, put a gun to the male victim's head and demanded money and jewelry, according to police.

The victims said they didn't have any cash, and overheard the robbers talking about a large stash of money that was supposed to be inside the apartment. That's when the robbers tied the victims up with power chords from an iron and other electronics, and took their cell phones, ID cards, a paycheck and a bank debit card.

The primary victim, who lives in the apartment, fell unconscious from the beating, but told police the first suspect's accent sounded genuine, while the second man's Jamaican accent sounded forced.

After the robbers fled, the victims were able to free themselves and went to a neighbor's apartment, where they called police.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspects can call the Port Chester Police Department at 914-939-1000. All calls will be kept confidential.
