PC Man Nabbed for Public Drinking, Stealing Bread

The suspect helped himself to a Texas Chili wedge without the chili.

A Port Chester man was arrested early this morning after stealing breakfast from the doorstep of a local business.

An officer was on patrol on Main Street at 3:51 a.m. when he saw the 28-year-old Port Chester man stop and grab a bag of bread from in front of Texas Chili, Lt. James Ladeairous said. Like many other local eateries, the chili restaurant receives fresh deliveries from nearby bakeries early in the morning before opening, and the baked goods are left outside for the owners to take in when they open up.

The suspect continued down Main Street with a bag of bread in his right hand and an open 12 oz. bottle of Corona in his left hand, apparently forgetting the brown bag compromise.

When the officer caught up with the Port Chester man, he issued a violation for drinking in public -- and warned him to wait until local eateries open for the day instead of helping himself to breakfast.
