PC Man Nabbed for Burglary After Traffic Stop

After pulling over 40-year-old Sean Welch of Port Chester, Greenwich police ran his license and learned he was wanted on a burglary charge.

A driver's failure to use her turn signal led to a traffic stop in Greenwich -- and the arrest of her passenger after police realized he was wanted on a warrant.

According to Greenwich Police, the driver was stopped shortly before 6:30 p.m., Dec. 8 after turning onto the entrance ramp of Interstate 95 from Ritch Avenue. Police checked the identity of the car's passenger and found there was an arrest warrant for charging him with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

The passenger was identified as Sean Welch, 40, who gave an address of 4 Willow St. He's accused of entering a former girlfriend's apartment on Bertolf Road after he was already warned to stay away by the victim and police.

Police said Welch used his cell phone to snap photos of items he'd stolen from the apartment, then sent them to the victim. He also is accused of "disturbing the woman's undergarments," according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

Welch was released after posting $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The driver, identfied as Carleathea Clarke, age and address not given, was issued a written warning for failure to use turn signal and released. S
