Caroline Sherwin of the Red Cross said an emergency reception center was established at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, where Red Cross volunteers assisted the six families affected by the fire. Sherwin said five of the families needed emergency shelter and arrangements were made through the Red Cross.

All of the affected families, Sherwin said, received emergency food, clothing and storage assistance and efforts to work with the families are continuing. Red Cross volunteers reported that residents of the building left with just the clothes they were wearing.
