Mother Charged With Murder of 4-Year-Old Son

Village of Mamaroneck Police arrested the woman whom they suspect was responsible for her son's death.

OUTSIDE NEW YORK CITY -- A local woman was arrested Monday night on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with her 4-year-old son's death Monday morning, according to local police.

Manuela Maria Morgado, 46, was arraigned in Mararoneck court and ordered held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla without bail. She is due back in court on Thursday.

Village of Mamaroneck police were called to Morgado's residence at the Continental View Condominium Complex at 1035 East Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning when they found the dead boy and his mother, who was in a state of semi-consciousness.

News 12 reports that the boy — identified as Jason — was living with Manuela while she was battling his father, Briarcliff Manor resident Dr. Tim Reish, over custody of their son. They report that the incident was an attempted murder-suicide.

Dr. Reish was an orthopedic surgeon who was part of the Insall Scott Kelly Institute (ISK).  According to the practice's website, he specializes in sports-related injuries and had extensive experience working with Division 1 athletes.

There was an eerie sense of calm at the Continental View Complex tonight, as VOM Police and news' trucks crowded the narrow driveway in front of the complex, with no residents coming or going.

Stay tuned to Patch for further updates.

I was a student teacher in a Pre-K program where I reported (to my supervisor) possible child abuse. A 4 yr old told me that she and her twin had burn marks under their chins because "Mommy put her lit cigarettes there when they didn't drink their milk fast enough" I don't know whatever happened to the mother or children. All I know is that the other teachers called me a "snitch" and made my life a living hell for the 4 weeks I had left in that school

@Concerned citizen, I see your point but how many times has it happened here im Mamaroneck vice incidents like this happening in Port Chester? All you have to do is read the back copies of the Patch and you'll see the point I was making. Thanks for your comment.

Leslie, You're a hero for reporting it and NOT looking the other way. Where did this take place ; if you can say please.

JJ: You're relentless. We all get it. You think Port Chester is a crime-ridden, down-trodden village infested with minorities, and change needs to be made. Your commentary is not changing anything.

JJ, where exactly do you live?
