More Than $500 In Cash Stolen from Carver Center Locker

The victims, two Port Chester men, placed their belongings in a padlocked locker before going for a swim at the community center.

Two Port Chester men are walking around with a lot less cash after a thief broke into their locker Wednesday while they swam at the Carver Center, Port Chester police said.

The victims, ages 31 and 21, headed over Wednesday afternoon to the 400 Westchester Ave. community center, which has the village's only public swimming pool.

They put their belongings -- including wallets, backpacks and cell phones -- into a locker at 2 p.m., then called police when they returned to the locker room at 4:30 p.m. and realized someone had rummaged through their bags, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The thief had broken a padlock to get in, taking a cell phone and $50 from one victim, and $500 out of the second victim's wallet.

Anyone with information on the theft can call the Port Chester Police Department at 914-939-1000. All calls will be kept confidential.
