Mom Accused of Leaving 3-Year-Old Alone in Car as She Shops in Port Chester

Girl was left sitting in child seat in car at Costco parking lot.

A 29-year-old Tarrytown woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after she left a 3-year-old girl in her car while she shopped in Port Chester, according to Port Chester Police.

Village police officers found the 3-year-old girl sleeping in a car seat in a 2003 Honda parked in the lot of the Costco store on Westchester Avenue at about 7 p.m. Friday. Police said officers went into Costco and found the mother, Alma Esquivel.

Police said Esquivel confirmed that she had left the child in the car as she went to shop. The child was not injured.
