Man Too Drunk to ID Robbers, Police Say

Police instructed the man to return to headquarters to file a report when he's sober.

A Greenwich man was robbed Sunday while walking home from Port Chester after a hard night of drinking, but was too drunk to communicate with officers who responded, Port Chester police said.

The 46-year-old Greenwich man was walking on Mill Street a few minutes before 3 a.m. when he was approached by three men who dragged him to the ground and helped themselves to his Samsung cell phone and a wallet containing more than $300, Capt. John Telesca said.

The man, who is Hispanic, told police he was attacked by "three Mexicans," but couldn't articulate much else. With no descriptions to go on and only vague, slurred details about the robbery, police brought the victim home and told him to come back for a complete report when he's sober.

Story Security: Port Chester Woman Stole Sandals

A Port Chester woman will face charges in two towns after she was arrested for shoplifting and police learned she was wanted on a warrant, Port Chester police said.

Security staff at the Marshalls department store at 20 Waterfront Place watched Elaine Hall as she pocketed several pairs of sandals inside the store at 6:40 p.m., Capt. John Telesca said. Store staff waited until the 41-year-old woman tried to leave before detaining her, then turned her over to police.

After officers scanned Hall's fingerprints, a networked database matched Hall to an active warrant for a parole violation, Telesca said. Hall, of 70 Purdy Ave., was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.
